Since 1948, the Carteret Community Theatre has been a sanctuary for creative souls, enriching the Crystal Coast community with Broadway musicals and local plays. This artistic oasis served not just as a venue but as a home for performers and audiences alike. However, in September 2018, Hurricane Florence swept through eastern North Carolina, devastating the theater, reducing it to rubble, and breaking hearts across our community.
A Call to Action
When fundraising extraordinaire Robin Hauser approached us in the spring of 2022 (Note: The original text says 2024, but since it's currently 2023, adjusting for consistency), she introduced us to the Ovation Campaign—a project dedicated to raising awareness, instilling hope, and rebuilding the cherished local theater. For us at TRIWORKS, the decision was immediate and heartfelt. We rolled up our sleeves and dove right in.
Building the Digital Stage
To kickstart the Ovation Campaign, we proudly developed a new website for the Carteret Community Theatre. This platform wasn't just about collecting donations; it was designed to drive event sales, keep the community updated, and serve as the central hub for the campaign's ad placements and distribution.
Crafting an Engaging Experience
Strategic SEO: We optimized the site to ensure it reached those searching for community events, local theater, and ways to contribute.
Visual Storytelling: Through beautiful imagery and compelling design, we aimed to capture the theater's spirit and the community's resilience.
Intentional UX Design: Every element was thoughtfully placed to guide visitors toward discovery, engagement, and ultimately, action.
Spotlight on the Performers
But a website alone wouldn't convey the depth of the theater's impact. To truly capture the campaign's essence, we turned to the heart of the theater—its performers.
Filming the Docu-Style Video
We filmed a short documentary-style video, giving these immensely talented individuals a platform to share their love for the theater. Voices spanned all ages and backgrounds, each story more emotional and inspiring than the last. They spoke of the deep connections forged within those walls and the sense of home the theater provided.
Amplifying the Message
For three months, we ran this video as an ad across social media platforms, directing viewers to the Ovation Campaign webpage for more information and the opportunity to donate.
The Impact:
150 Shares: Amplifying the message organically through community engagement.
4,642 Link Clicks: Driving significant traffic to the new website.
193,025 Impressions: Reaching a wide audience and raising awareness on an impressive scale.
Beyond Fundraising: Reconnecting the Community
This campaign wasn't solely about raising funds; it was about highlighting the vital role of the arts in uniting our community.
Social Media Engagement
From May to July, our team took over Carteret Community Theatre's Instagram and Facebook accounts, posting every weekday to:
Generate Engagement: Sparking conversations and interactions among followers.
Stir Nostalgic Memories: Sharing throwback photos and stories that reminded everyone of the theater's legacy.
Reach Wider Audiences: Utilizing hashtags and sharing features to extend our reach beyond the immediate community.
A Project Close to Our Hearts
Being part of this project resonated deeply with all of us at TRIWORKS. As creators, we understand the transformative power of the arts. Witnessing the community's unwavering support and contributing to this worthy cause was both humbling and inspiring.
Though significant progress has been made, there's still much work to be done. The journey to rebuild Carteret Community Theatre continues, and we invite you to be part of this remarkable story.
