Finding a career path that ignites your passion isn't always straightforward. Education plays a pivotal role in navigating this journey, and Carteret Community College (CCC) understands the importance of guiding students toward their best-fit future. When CCC's marketing team approached us at TRIWORKS with their Fall Enrollment Campaign concept, we knew we had an exciting challenge ahead.

Turning Vision into Reality

Director of Marketing and Public Information, Logan Okun, shared her vision of a "door to your future." The metaphor resonated with us so profoundly that we decided to bring it to life—quite literally. Inspired by the sitcom Community, which humorously delves into community college life, we crafted a lighthearted script. The narrative follows two characters: one eager to explore CCC's opportunities and the other representing the institution itself.

Storyboarding with a Twist

To ensure our vision was crystal clear before the actual shoot, we took an unconventional approach to storyboarding. Parker filmed Sammy, and Katie captured each shot in our studio. This meticulous process allowed us to fine-tune angles, script nuances, props, and even body language well in advance.

The Door Makes Its Debut

As for the iconic door? That's a story in itself. Parker happened to have a spare door—yes, a whole door—lying around. Seizing the opportunity, he and Josh built the trim and crafted a custom door sign. In no time, our symbolic "Door to the Future" was ready for its close-up.

Lights, Camera, Action on Campus

On a crisp April morning, our team headed to CCC's campus and set up on the lawn. Logan provided an array of CCC swag, while Mardell, our leading man and local celebrity DJ from Jack's Waterfront Grill, brought multiple outfit changes to embody different career paths.

Stepping into Roles

Our search for a female talent hit a snag, so Katie stepped in to play the Campus Representative. With Mardell's infectious energy and professional flair, we captured the essence of exploring new educational opportunities on the Crystal Coast. His performance breathed life into the script, making each scene both engaging and authentic.

After a productive morning of rehearsing and filming, we wrapped up the shoot. The team celebrated with some well-deserved chips and salsa at Costa Bonita in Morehead City—a perfect way to unwind after a successful day.

Bringing It All Together in Post-Production

Back at the studio, the real magic began. Sammy took charge of coloring the clips, meticulously piecing the storyboard together, and adding immersive sound design that pulls viewers straight into the action. The footage then moved to Parker's desk, where he applied visual effects that made each of Mardell's journeys through the door feel both realistic and enchanting.

The Power of Collaboration

This project exemplified our team's collaborative spirit. By passing the project through different hands—each adding their unique expertise—we elevated the final product to new heights. It's this synergy that sets TRIWORKS apart, ensuring every project isn't just completed but perfected.

The Grand Reveal and Campaign Success

The end result? A fun, sitcom-style advertisement that invites viewers to open the door and discover what Carteret Community College has to offer. We hosted private screenings for Logan and Mardell, whose enthusiastic reactions confirmed we hit the mark.

Reaching the Masses

With the creative complete, Josh leveraged his marketing expertise to launch the ads on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. The campaign ran for approximately three months, exceeding even our high expectations.

Campaign Highlights:

  • TikTok Ads: 243,478 impressions and 5,129 clicks.

  • Facebook Ads: 778,930 impressions and 9,726 clicks.

These impressive numbers not only reflect the hard work and dedication of our team but also signify a successful outreach to potential students. We're thrilled with the outcome and eagerly anticipate how this will contribute to increased enrollment at CCC.

Conclusion

Embarking on a new educational journey is a significant step, and through this campaign, we aimed to make that step feel accessible and exciting. By literally building a "Door to the Future," we provided a tangible symbol of opportunity and exploration available at Carteret Community College.

As we say at TRIWORKS, creativity knows no bounds when you're passionate about the story you're telling. We're grateful to CCC for entrusting us with this project and can't wait to see what the future holds—for both the college and its prospective students.
